Our class is working specifically on four prepositions of places and learning about cognates.

Cognates are words that generally have the same meaning or are related by descent from the same ancestral language. Some examples are:

English Spanish

animal animal

cereal cereal

cafeteria cafeteria

television television

So, we are doing a reading in class where we are trying to identify as many cognates as we can. You can see the reading on the video's section and do the same activity. Circle all the words that sound familiar to you or you think you can guess the meaning. Then, check your answers on google translator.

Here are the 4 preposition we are this week.

debajo de/under

detras de/ behind

delante de/ in front of

Ways to practice where the things are located? Use a marker/marcador, crayon/creyón or pen/boligrafo and a table/mesa

Put any of these items on any of the positions that we are working, then ask yourself

¿Dónde está el marcador?

Where is the marker?

Answer the question in Spanish and try again using other position. Then change the item for other one and continue until you use all the prepositions and the three items. Make sure you speak during this activity. This practice is about using your communication skills.
